Lightweight Touring Kayaks

Generally for comparable model with of adequate strength and durability, composite kayaks (fiberglass, aramid/Kevlar, or carbon/graphite) are lighter than roto-molded or thermo-formed kayaks. Carbon fiber is the lightest followed by Kevlar (aramid) and then fiberglass. For composite kayaks, infusion molding improves impact strength while reducing weight by 3-5 lbs. White hulls are lighter than colored hulls. Also scratches don't show as bad on white hulls and white gelcoat is easier to repair. So for anyone wishing to have a light weight sea kayak, we recommend and stock infusion molded carbon/Kevlar composite kayaks with a white hull.
