P & H Virgo

Introduction

The Virgo is the shortest and most maneuverable design from P & H. At 14.5' it's a fun kayak for day trips, surfing, and playing in rough water. Initial stability is reassuring enough for novices yet moderate enough to be easy to edge; secondary stability is high enough to inspire confidence. On edge the Virgo can spin 360 degrees with just three forward or reverse sweeps! That makes it among the most maneuverable sea kayaks ever and handy for getting out of tight spaces. Top speed is around 5kt (6mph), and it can cruise at 4 - 4.2kt. The large cockpit makes getting in and out easy, and the large gap behind the seat allows you to lean way back when surfing or doing a sweep roll. The stability and low back deck combine to make this one of the easiest kayaks to learn the cowboy entry and rolls with. Good thigh hooks, perimeter lines, bungees, and Kajak Sport hatches make this a seaworthy kayak.
