Cockpit covers keep your kayak from filling up with rain, both when transporting the kayak on your car or if stored outside. They also keep spiders and other creepy things out, which is nice when camping where there are scorpions, etc. Over the years we've tested cockpit covers made of coated nylon, neoprene, and vinyl - heavy duty vinyl like this Seals Cockpit Seal lasts longer than any other type which is why we only sell this model of cockpit cover. The Seals Cockpit Seal comes with a removable strap that goes around the kayak to further hold it in place, and it also has a clip to attach the cockpit cover to the deck rigging just in case it comes off on the highway - "belt and suspenders".

This Seals Cockpit Seal w/ Hull Strap cover comes in five sizes to fit most sea kayaks, and each size is adjustable via the knot in the bungee cord. If you are between sizes, going up to the larger one will make it easier to put the cover on; the smaller one will give a more wrinkle-free fit but require some effort to stretch over the coaming. The adjustable cross strap can also help with cinching down and contain any extra fabric if it fits a little loose.

However, for cockpit covers which are more forgiving than spray skirts if the sizing tools says you need an NDK/D spray skirt size, you need the Seals 1.3 cockpit cover size - due to the adjustable bungee cord on the rim of the cover this fits and works well on all NDK except Romany Excel which uses a Seals 2.2 Unfortunately Seals considers their 1.3 size as a "Custom Size" and charge extra for it.
